On the Nightstand

Sometime towards the end of 2011 I realized I hadn’t read anything all year. Actually, that’s not true. I read a lot of nonfiction because that’s what I like the most. And because our library puts new nonfiction front and center by the checkout stand and fiction is all the way upstairs and who has time for that?

I also started a new job last year, and devoted every extra second to getting better at that job, which meant zero time for extra activities that weren’t of a family nature. Not much reading, not much writing, not much exercising. Now I’m catching up. I’m also having to re-learn how to sleep like a normal person, but that’s neither here nor there.

The fuzzy books are:

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More - Roald Dahl

boom! - Mark Haddon

The Chronicles of Harris Burdick - Too many authors to list

A History of the World in 100 Objects - Neil MacGregor

What’s not pictured is Crime and Punishment, which is in audiobook form on my phone, which is what puts me to sleep at night now that I’m learning how to sleep like a regular person again. What’s also not pictured is the phone application that tracks the books I’m reading or the new application I’ve got to track my sleep patterns, which also records noises I make when I wake up at night. Which sound like this: kkkssssssssshhhhhhh.

In other words, I think I’m becoming a crazy person.
